We’re endorsing Aaron Gies for congress in NY-23. This decision was not made lightly.

The Lake Effect Change Steering Committee met with both Aaron Gies and Kevin Stocker, two democratic candidates running to represent NY-23 in congress, to learn about their political positions and their plans for the general election. We have been closely following their social media and campaign outreach.

Aaron has been on the road for months, publicly meeting with constituents throughout the 23rd district. This kind of dedication and commitment to the constituents is exactly what our district truly needs and deserves.

His progressive stances and forward-facing vision is a welcome move away from the myopic anti-Trump messaging of much of the Democratic Party.

In a time of ever-polarizing negative politics, Aaron has avoided personal attacks, instead using his own positions to attract voters and grassroots donors. For these reasons, we’re behind Aaron.

There is a unique potential for the 2026 election to show Nick Langworthy and Republican leadership that the direction they are trying to take this country does not reflect the will of the people.
